SWOP-USA is thrilled to be partnering with the Woodhull Freedom Foundation. We are participating in
the Sexual Freedom Summit, held August 15th-18th 2019 in Alexandria, Virginia.

SWOP-USA is hosting a day long sex worker summit on Thursday, August 15th . We are developing two
tracks that are tailored to our cohort: policy and organizing. The goal is to better equip grassroots sex
worker activists for community organizing and engaging in local and federal policies that impact our
wellbeing and safety. This institute is only open to current and former sex workers.

This institute will in-part focus on agitating for the decriminalization of sex work, however we also
believe in a world beyond decriminalization, that includes economic and racial justice, and the
dismantling of the prison industrial complex. This lens of beyond decriminalization will be central to the
mission and content of the institute.

Workshops currently include:
-Federalism, Policy, and Administrative Law
-How a Bill Becomes a Law
-Organizing Across Difference and Owning Privilege in Organizing
-Facilitation: How to Talk to Each Other
-Outward Facing Presence: Using Social Media & Media training
-How to Build Coalitions
-Beyond Decrim: Decarceration, Labor Regulations/Rights, Economic Justice

The remainder of the Summit (August 16-18th ) will include a track of sex worker focused workshops,
socials, and other events.

We have very limited funding (although we are striving to raise more!) and for these scholarships will be
prioritizing current and former sex workers who identify as people of color, trans and gender
nonconforming individuals, those who have experienced incarceration, and individuals with disabilities.
