SWOP-USA is seeking to hire an exceptionally organized and personable individual for the position of Chapter Coordinator. Ideal candidates will possess good communication and people skills, as well as a comprehensive working knowledge of the sex worker rights movement, intersecting issues, and anti-oppression practices.
SWOP-USA is a national organization, and candidates must possess the ability to work collaboratively with individuals across the country via the internet, phone, and video chat. A basic knowledge of wordpress, Google drive, and other online communication tools are beneficial. We will train the right person.
This is an exciting opportunity to serve and support local activists across the country, plugging them into resources and helping them achieve their goals.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
On-going responsibilities:
On-boarding new Chapters into the SWOP Network
Assisting communication between Chapters and the SWOP-USA Board and Personnel
Working with our Ombudsperson for conflict and grievance mediation in Chapters
Keeping track of Chapters and their achievements, challenges, and needs
Assisting local activists implement strategic advancement of policies and cultural attitudes that support a sex worker rights movement centered in anti-oppression principles
Special projects
Helping to update our Chapter Handbook
Helping to develop out Chapter Liaison Program
Identify and develop training materials for Chapters
This position pays $20 per hour for up to 50 hours per month as an independant contractor, and to be conducted remotely.
In applying, we are particularly interested in hearing about past experience in sex worker rights and your experience with leadership in community-based organizations. Applicants must be quick to learn new skills, able to educate others on SWOP principles and structure, able to work independently, and have clear communication and writing skills. Applications should expect to commit to this position for at least six months to a year. Sex workers and people from underrepresented communities particularly encouraged to apply.
